My baby is more intelligent

Moms and Dads compare their children for all sorts of things. On new year day we were in Birmingham temple and I had an opportunity to overhear such a comparison, which in my opinion was the stupidest of them all. Dad1 was saying to Dad2 that daughter2 was lighter for her age when compared to daughter1 (his own daughter). dad1 said he felt it when he lifted daughter2!

Hope I don’t start comparing and bragging. Balan and I  have decided that we will not ask our child to do things to show others, such as, “recite/say this and show this to uncle/auntie” etc. Hope I can maintain that.

Looking forward to a superlative ‘stupid latha’. 😉

Be natural – if you feel like bragging – brag. You wont get the opportunity again. Looking forward to it.

Let a child to be a child that should be every parent’s motive. A good parent should never compare their child with another and should never ask their child to display their skills, when the children are not interested. But could you believe that we have come across few people (Locals) in supermarkets when we shop with our children, who ask our children age and say “Oh..she is quite tall for her age..” Earlier I thought lots of desis do such things, but we have experienced this with quite a lot of people other than desis. Anyhow, the best we could do is just ignore.

I saw this the other day and thought of you… It’s another friend’s thoughts on her daughter.
