changing nappies can be fun
March 28, 2008 at 7:50 pm | In Baby, life | 10 CommentsI don’t have much to post about. But have some photos of Avni. Is it acceptable to post just photos, though I think I should stop posting her photos in the internet? I didn’t want to post her photos and wanted to select a blog name for her. I ended up calling her ammakkutti (the name suggested by Michelle) at home and Avni on blog.

Avni has forgotten about roll over attempts, but has started it again today. Not full attempt, but she just lifts her butt. My mother called me when I almost finished this post that she has started attempting to roll over again. Took viedoes. Only to realise that it was little dark and needed the lights to be switched on. the video is not very dark, but could have been better if the lights were on.
She has grown out of her first set of clothes.
She touches and explores the objects hanging from her gym. I have videos of these actions as well. My mother tells that there are too many photos and videos of Avni.
She is a sweet heart when we change her nappy. She lifts her butt up in the air and holds it there until we clean her up and she gets a dry nappy.
She poos only once in a day. Mostly before noon. I didn’t like these kinds of information before I became a mum myself. Those who are not mum yet do not know the value of “poo only once a day” and that too “before noon” pattern. That too when you have to be economical in everything (I am jobless, remember?) Avni gets huggies before noon, that stupid sainsbury’s nappy after poo, and then pampers’ sleep tight nappies for the night! Asda’s George and Morrisons’ were great all rounders and we were using them until last month. We bought Sainsbury’s thinking that it is going to be similar to Morrison’s and ASDA’s. But Sainsbury’s is not very good. Since we have opened it, we have to use it anyway, so we are using it only for the wee. As she sleeps through the night we are using “sleep tight” nappies. Then there were few offers for huggies, so we bought huggies…
She sleeps through the night, most nights. We put her to bed late (10pm to 12pm) so that she wakes up early in the morning (6am) and we can call it that she sleeps through the night.
She has got prickly heat kind of rash around her neck. We are moisturising her like maniacs.
I still got loose tummy. I am wearing belt all the time. I cannot walk without belt yet. I am referred to a physio to get help. My GP mentioned about “tummy tuck” but we didn’t discuss about it.
I used think that I will go to baby groups, keep in touch with antenatal group etc. etc. but now I do not have enthusiasm to do any of those.
I also used to think that I will resume my swimming after delivery, but I do not think I am going to yet. I haven’t started dieting either. I have to lose eight kilos to get back to my prepregnancy weight.
I thought about blogging more about Avni too, not to keep every record of her development but to win some prizes, if there are any, for the best mommyblogging. I even thought of contacting our local newspaper to host me, but then I haven’t got a single decent post on mommy-blogging for the sample, so I haven’t contacted them yet.
I have been doing some interpreting assigments around Hemel. This has helped me to get back on the wheel first of all, and gives me a chance to talk to to people.
I have started looking for a proper day job. Hope I find one soon.
Avni is two months, two weeks and six days old (or 11 weeks and 3 days old).
PS: The photo of the pinky princess was taken on 22 March 08, when Avni was two months and two weeks old. The one with me was taken when she was a week old (16 Jan 08).
names
March 28, 2008 at 5:15 pm | In Baby | No CommentsTwo other babies were named from the list you all suggested.
Anvitha - my niece
Arushya - friend’s baby
Both Anvitha and Arushya are doing great.
Thank you all again.
Two months and a week plus
March 16, 2008 at 12:56 pm | In Baby | 14 CommentsOur GP suspected cataract (Congenital cataract) for Avni as the GP couldn’t see the red disc when she examined Avni’s eyes during her eighth week check at our local surgery. We were given the earliest appointment available at the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead Heath, London. Eye tests came out fine. We were told that dark eyes may not show red disc as they absorb all light!
.
She can recognise people now.
She smiles at us a lot.
She enjoys her baby gym which has music and co-ordinating flashing lights. She focuses on those objects hanging from the gym. aims and hits them. she goes happy to see the object moving when she hits it. Looks at it until it stops.
She talks! She says something like coo, aghoo, ohah and what not, but says it, gives a pause for us to say something and then says again as if she is replying or continuing the conversation. Her smile during such a conversation is divine.
She knows who gives in to her attention seeking cries. my mother.
She is falling into a pattern. Not completely routine driven yet, but she is showing a pattern. She sleeps through 6hours some nights.
She is trying to roll over.
She can hold her head for sometime, but she still needs support.
She received a special gift from Katherine Reece, sent over from across the pond. Kat crocheted these blankets and sent them over by paying a fortune towards postage! What a special girl Avni is!
After seeing all the toys, my mother commented that she didn’t have any money to buy any toy for her daughter. Her daughter didn’t play with any toy!
Special gift for a special girl from a special friend

(I hope to take better photo today to send it to Kat. Either I will replace the above photos or I will add more here.)
Attempting to roll over

(Avni was distracted when she saw the camera. So I had to stay away from her view)

PS: just noticed that camera time setting is wrong and 1 and a 1/4 hours ahead.
keeping myself sane
March 13, 2008 at 2:34 pm | In Baby, Mommyhood, life | 13 CommentsIt has been difficult to keep myself sane that it needed some conscious effort a lot of time. I took the decision to clear that exam I have been just talking and talking but doing nothing about, to take my mind off and to break the monotonous life of changing nappies and the feeding cycle. Passed. Judge me all you want. I have a worrying thing about Avni, the result of which I can only know tomorrow, but for now I am happy that I passed this exam. Judge me all you want.
I will update on Avni after tomorrow.
She has been trying to roll over.
