The only problem I had was a husband who made me laugh the day following my c-section and it hurt my stomach! I could have killed him… what a brat!
Other than that, no problems on mommy’s or baby’s end. In fact, my daughter had a perfectly round head from not having to be squeezed out.

Thanks Jenefur. That is comforting to know, as everyone around here is scaring me, and I believe mine is going to be a C section as I suspect the baby is big. (your comment makes me imagine/dream about my day after delivering the baby. Can’t wait.

Absolutely no problems for the baby if it is C-section. It is only with vaginal delivery that the baby’s head is distorted(minor injuries in some cases) because it is squeezing it’s way through the birth canal. C-section, your receovery depends on your general stamina, just take care of the sutures till they heal well. And take all your pain medication as prescribed. I even read some freaky article somewhere that says babies born thru c-section are more intelligent than those born thru vaginal delivery, because their heads(and hence brains) do not undergo any trauma while labor.

You may want to read themadmomma.blogspot.com if you haven’t read her C-Sec posts already.

Er, I wouldn’t suggest MM’s C-sec posts – esp not the graphic images if you are the queasy kind!! Nah, am kidding – its just that she doesn’t blve in sugar coating things. But do read her posts – they are downright honest. You can also read Suj’s accounts at Blogpourri. (http://blogpourri.blogspot.com)
Pregnancy is riddled with things that could go either way and the delivery method is one of them. I’d suggest you go with the flow.

Hi DG,
Thanks for the links. Why did you think MM’s post queasy? I didn’t find anything like that there. In fact that post was about good points about C-section. Reading her post even strengthened my points for wanting to go for elective cesarean.
Regarding Sujatha’s post, read my next post.

Prems, if you have not been advised C-sec and are thinking of opting for it you might first want to hear from us about our two deliveries – both normal and without a drip.

Having a c-section can be different for everyone. Most women don’t really have a problem but the most common problems are long recovery and breastfeeding problems.
Recovery will be your biggest hurdle and you should properly prepare for it, otherwise it can be a troublesome time. C-sections are fairly safe today but you should still read up and understand the risks and have a good idea of how you want the birth of your child to proceed.
